DO280 v 3.9 Lab setup on Laptop failed

Hi All,

Good Day!

I have tried to setup my own Lab in Oracle Virtual Box running in Mac OS Pro 16 Gb Physical Memory and 300GB of Disk space.

I had followed the instructions provied by "https://spiritedengineering.net/2019/08/05/put-red-hat-openshift-on-your-laptop-using-virtualbox-and..."

Master VM - Cento OS 7.5, 3 vCPU's 12 GB vRAM

Compute VM - Centos 7.5 , 1vCPU's 8GB vRAM

still I am unable to get the cluster up, almost 20 days I am failing, I am new to Openshift community. I am preparing for v3.9 exams my Redhat labs will expire soon.

I wanted to have my own lab in laptop to learn and get this certificaiton, please help!

Regards,

Ramesh

Hi Ramesh

Manually creating the VMs for an OCP cluster is not an easy task.

If you are ok with using OCP 4.x, I would recommend you to take a look at CodeReady Containers (https://developers.redhat.com/products/codeready-containers/overview).

CRC creates the needed VMs and sets up OpenShift on your laptop with barely any effort.

If you are stuck with OCP 3.x, the upstream project Minishift does a similar job: https://github.com/minishift/minishift

I've successfully used both tools to deploy clusters on my local machine.

Hope it helps.
