This exam counts towards RHCA.
Exam duration is 2.5 hours.
I'm taking this exam next week, but i"m kind of confused about the goal of your post.
The goal of the post is to help and motivate learners to go for containers course and the corresponding exam to upskill themselves. And to quickly locate exam info and possible next recommended courses/skill paths/ exams.
And last but not least - to help them with their queries for the same.
As per "Red Hat Certification Exam Objectives by Version' PDF doc, there is no mention of OpenShift for EX188K exam; can someone from Redhat certification team confirm that OpenShift is not part of EX188K exam objectives and it is purely and solely based on Podman capabilities?
@faimehmo Please refer the EX188 exam objectives here : https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training/ex188-red-hat-certified-specialist-containers-exam?secti...
Please prepare as per the topics mentioned in the exam objectives above. There is no way to divulge information about what is and what is not in the exam because of the NDA.
The recommended course for this exam is DO188 : https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training/do188-red-hat-open-shift-development-introduction-contai...
which has chapters on containers orchestration with OpenShift and Kubernetes (ch08)
@Chetan_Tiwary_ when comparing the Exam Objectives of EX180 (retired?) with EX188 , there is a clear mention of OpenShift (last three sections), and there is no mention of OpenShioft/k8s in EX188 Exam Objectives - I am merely trying to get clarity if OpenShift is removed from EX188 and it is part of a separate exam.
Why should I refer to DOXXX for what can be on exams? Aren't the Exam Objectives the source of truth?
@faimehmo EX180 has nothing to do with EX188.
You are right that EX188 objectives are the source of truth for what can be in EX188 - if you did not find Openshift there - then it is not in the exam objectives !
DO188 is the recommended course for EX188 if one wants to refer a training course :
If you don't want to refer the training course that is perfectly Ok. I just mentioned that the recommended course does have a chapter on containers orchestration with OpenShift and Kubernetes.
I don't have the budget to buy the DO188
I hear you and will keep that in mind thee DO188. But, Redhat can do better on clarity of Exam Objectives versus training material as not everyone can afford them and will be focused on what is listed in Exam Objectives.
EX188 Exam objecives does not have Openshift in it. Focusing and preparing on the lines of Exam objectives is totally fine - if something is not in exam objective , it should not be in the exam. Hope this helps you @faimehmo !
Great! But what if I get tasks outside of exam objectives? Is there a formal channel to contest that?
