I personally tried it as side practice, but failed to validate RH SSO Standalone.xml file. I did followed https://learn.redhat.com/t5/Containers-DevOps-OpenShift/Redhat-SSO-and-external-Oracle-DB/m-p/36420/... and progressed a little bit. MySQL is easy and portable to connect i guess.
