certification_id

When I book an exam, it asks for a certification_id.

What is it? And how to get one?

The certification ID is a number of 9 digits in the format abc-def-ghi.
You receive one after having successfully passed a Red Hat exam.

I had received mine several years ago, long before the RHLS subscription and the online booking of exams had been made possible.
So I have never been in your situation: trying to book on-line an exam, being asked to provided the certification ID, and not being able to provide one.

I recommend that you officially submit you problem to Red Hat.
Simply put: How can a non yet Red Hat certified candidate book on-line an exam and fill in a certification ID ?

thank you for helping.
Even though certification_id is asked when I book the exam it is not mandatory field, so I am able to book the exam. So hopefully I will pass the exam and get one

As @TM mentioned, the certification ID will be generated/provided after passing a Red Hat exam which can be used in future.

As you noticed, certification ID is not mandatory for booking an exam. Good you managed to book an exam without any hassel.
