New Certification Specialist Persistence?

Hi,

I would need your support to clarify the road map of "RCHA Enterprise application development". I can see in the official RH site Red Hat Certified Architect: Application development that the certification Red Hat Certified Specialist in Persistence (retired)  is "retired". Is there any equivalent certification to be released? because I already invest some time last year to get that certification but seems that will not be replaced and at least on the consulting department, persistence is one of the mandatory requirements to provide good support to customers.

I'm sorry thre are no plans to release a replacement course/certification at this time.

There were recently some changes to the RHCA program:

There are 2 RHCA varients "in Infrastructure" and "in Enterprise Applications".  You can see which exams apply to each on the Skills tab of the page linked above.  The varient is determined by which base credential (RHCJD/RHCEMD vs. RHCE) your additional credentials attach to.

I think you may be looking at an obsoleted page which talks about 'concentrations', which were suggested groupings of exams that didn't convey an additional title.

What we used to call 'concentrations' are now obsolete. Red Hat now offers two distinct RHCA titles: RHCA in Infrastructure and RHCA in Enterprise Applications. This distinction comes from thef act that the first one requires an RHCE as the stating point, while the second requires either an RHCJD or an RHCEMD. The RHCA in Enterprise Applications is roughly equivalent to the old "Red Hat Certified Architect: Application development" concentration.

Anyway the "Red Hat Certified Specialist in Persistence" exam is retired. If you already earned this certification, it counts to your RHCA as long as it is still valid, but you won't be able to renew it. If you nave not earned it yet, the exam is not available anymore and there are no plans to provide a replacement exam that focus on Hibernate, JPA, and related Java EE persistence technologie.s.

There are many exams that you can choose to complete your requirements to earn an RHCA in Enterprise Applications and keep it current after your Red Hat Certified Specialist in Persistence certification expires. I suggest you consider the certificatios with focus on Camel, Messaging, OpenShift, and Ansible.

I just thought I'd point out that, while @flozano is correct in that there's no replacement course and exam for the one focusing exclusively on JPA/Hibernate, there is a substantial amount on JPA in both the JB183 course and the associated EX183 exam.

Have a look at the EX183 exam objectives.

Thaks for pointing at EX183 @oldbenko. You see @AbrahamArellano persistence is so important that it moved from a specialization into a core competency, a pre-requisite for RHCA in Enterprise Applications. :-)

Just to chime in, as a proud owner of EX183, the depth of JPA in 183 is nowhere near previous original persistence exam. It contains 2 chapters on JPA, out of 10. It's a good introduction of course.
