Can't get SNMPD working

OS: CentOS 6

I don't know what's going wrong. I did:

  1. Set the correct listening interface(s) in /etc/sysconfig/snmpd (verified with netstat)

  2. Added the SNMP server to /etc/hosts.allow

  3. Added the SNMP server to /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf

  4. Restarted and verified SNMPD is running

  5. Added snmp to iptables

  6. Checked /var/log/messages but nothing noted

  7. Running tcpdump while doing an SNMP walk verifies packets coming in, but the host is not responding.

  8. The correct route is in the routing table

We have 2 similar machines on which SNMP is working fine. What am i missing here?

Could it be an SNMPD access control issue? Do you use View-Based Access Control?
