Got destroyed by EX200 exam

Jump to solution

Well, I knew it was a fairly tough exam.

At the training centre where it was being held various tutors passed me by in the kitchen area asking me if I was the guy sitting the Red Hat exam and ALL of them were like "woa.. good luck mate"

I wasted A LOT of time at the start with confusion about how to even get into the machines to actually perform the tasks. What was weird was I got 100% in some difficult areas like security and only 33% in easier areas like User & Group management tasks..

Anyway there is a second shot offer on so I'm not going to be caught flat footed again, now I know what I'm up against. I have to respect the standards set, this is so much more effective that multi-choice questions and my Linux-fu is only getting stronger through this defeat.

Yes and the only one that challenged me as much was when I did Cisco CCNA about 12 years ago which I passed at the time..

These kinds of exams are so much more real world than any other IT exam I've done since. I hate that I failed, only the second time in my life that I ever have, but I love the challenge to be at the level needed to crush it next time.

Hi Scott,

Thank you so much for sharing. You know i took a course on udemy, rushed through it and thought i should schedule my exam few days later. Then i looked at past questions and thankfully did not schedule. This exam is definitely tough and anyone with this certification is definitely respected. I will practice past questions for atleast a couple months before trying.

That's why the exams are valuable to me, personally. Performance based certifications are, in my humble opinion, a great way to verify you know as much of a technology as you think (or claim) you do.

We write the trainings with the same idea in mind. If you attended your RH199 training, or took the associated RHEL trainings on ROL, you know that we try to provide a fair bit of theory and a ton of practice so that you don't just read, you do. At the end of each chapter, there is a test where you can verify your understanding of the chapter, and at the end of the course, there is a test  where you can verify your understanding of the whole class.

I'm glad you like the difficulty of the exam, and I hope you'll attend more of our training/exams!
