I would like to know the minimum speed requirement (down and upload) to do a RedHat remote exam at home? I am using a ADSL router with max speed down 12mbps and upload 1mbps) Is it possible to do it with the above setup? or is it necessary to have a leased line connection? I have tried to do it twice with the above setup couldn't even start the exam though the speed test got passed.anyone here got it to work with a ADSL connection?

Hi @charith1994 ,

The remote exam requirements state a download speed requirement of 768Kbps and upload speeds of 512Kbps. Note that these are the speed requirements to access Red Hat servers and not the general speed test results. (The speed tests available on the internet usually pick the nearest server and its results might not be quite accurate to judge compatibility with remote exams)

On your ADSL setup, though its theoretical upstream speed still somehow meets the compatibility test requirements, there is also stability and latency playing an important role. These variables depend on the distance from the phone central, ISP settings, modem, and line quality. In case you experience consistent failures while accessing the exams, I would encourage you to consult your Internet service provider.

Best Regards,

Hi everybody,

I have scheduled my remote exam EX300K on Apr, 29 at 3 pm with no error but after I read that this exam is not currently available for remote.

Unfortunately There were no options in a testing center in Milano maybe for the pandemic restrictions.

Should I consider this reservation valid?

Regards

Claudio

@ClaudioAriatti ,

Hi there,

The EX300K exam is available as a remote exam for a few weeks now and your exam reservation is valid as long as you have received the confirmation email. Can you please point me to the page where it says otherwise and I'll have that updated.
I noticed the public webpage for EX300K does not mention the remote exam modality as well and have forwarded feedback to the team.

Good luck with your exam!

After taking my exam today I feel I can add some vital information for the FAQ section.

If you have a 4K monitor, the offical advice I received today was to ensure you choose 1920 * 1080 as your display resolution. Highly advise this otherwise you will only be working with part of your display and will not be able to resize or go fullscreen with the desktop provided and will most likely need extra glasses.

There is no way to alter any desktop settings and only see this desktop size issue once the exam has started

I would highly suggest this is added to the FAQ section although support said they would review the documentation anyway.

Hi,

Just tested my computer with the compability test and extected to fail on the hardware test where testing the number of cameras installed. Was surprised to see that the camera test passed.

I'm not curently having external camera its just the laptop camera.

Why the test didn't fail? What I've seen here is that I need to have at minimum an external camera to pass the test?

Cheers

You do need ann external cam so the proctor can view your room,

I would suggest it needs to be on 2m of cable to ensure they have the correct viewing angle
