I was curious if there is a way to see the available dates for remote exams before purchasing them? If not, what has been the typical time as of now between purchasing and the first available time slot people have experienced for RHCSA exams?

I think there is no method to do that but typically, for all remote exams,
you can easily find exam time slots in the range between 25 hours and let's
say 32 hours or little more. You can also easily find time slots after 3 to
4 weeks, plus some random few time slots in between.

My exam is schedule at 20th july 2022. For internet network can I connect mobile internet with USB cable on laptop. Is it allowed in exam? My laptop is new and in that wifi option is not available.

As long as it is stable and fast enough, it can be definitely used.
I used an USB Modem in all of my 10+ remote exams.

Guys, I have few questions:

1) Are the snacks (i.e. small crackers) and water allowed or it's up to the proctor to decide if I can have it or not?

2) Can I have 1 break or it's up to the proctor to decide if I can have it or not?

3) When using an external webcam, where should I place it? Above the monitor or near the monitor at some angle, so the proctor could see me, my table, keyboard, mouse and monitor?

4) Should I move the camera around the room, so the proctor could inspect the room?

5) In case of loss of power or internet connection the exam will be instantly considered as failed, right?

6) Not related to the online exam. Please tell if these 19 locations are the only locations in US where I can go and take RHCSA exam? https://rhtapps.redhat.com/individualexamscheduler/#/PublicLocations

Thank you!

  1. Yes, you are allowed to have snacks and water as long as the proctor is aware of them.
  2. Yes, at least one and the proctor will let you know when you can take them.
  3. Generally, far enough that the webcam shows your face, the keyboard, and your hands.
  4. The proctor will instruct you when to move the camera.
  5. No, but you won't get extra time to compensate for any loss of time.
  6. No answer on that, somebody official will probably need to answer that.

Just one more question. In the manual below I don't see anything regarding wireless headsets. I see wireless mice, wireless keyboards, and wireless webcams are not allowed. I wonder what about wireless headsets? I have Razer wireless over-the-ear headset that requires plugging a USB dongle. TIA.

The manual: https://www.redhat.com/rhdc/managed-files/tr-remote-exams-preparation-ebook-f27382-202103-en_2.pdf

I think it is not allowed but why do you need them?

1) Are the snacks (i.e. chips) and water allowed or it's up to proctor to
decide if I can have it or not?

Yes, but you have to show them to the proctor before starting the exam.

2) Can I have 1 break or it's up to proctor to decide if I can have it or
not?

You can have a 10 minutes break after each completed hour.

3) When using an external webcam, where should I place it? Above the
monitor or near the monitor at some angle so the proctor could see me, my
table, keyboard, mouse and monitor?

It should be placed on your left hand side in a position that can show you,
the keyboard and the screen.

4) Should I move the camera around the room, so the proctor could inspect
the room?

This is the room scan that should be performed before starting the exam and
after each break. There can be a random room scan as well.

5) In case loss of power or internet connection the exam will be instantly
considered as failed, right?

You will be given a chance to reconnect.
