All communications are through written chat. No voice interaction with the
proctor.

Thank you! I guess I won't need speakers or a mic then, just a web cam.

I usually use the internal speakers since you need to hear the alert from the proctor.

Do you mean laptop speakers?

Yes he means laptop loudspeaker which will be very sufficient to hear the
notification ring. But a Microphone, either built-in or external, is
mandatory so that the proctor can hear your background to ensure that no
one talks to you during the exam to offer help.

Thank you. Currently, I have two options on how to hook the mic:

1) via headset.

2) I have an external Blue Yeti large USB table mic.

Once I download an image for the exam I'll test both options to see if they work.

If I want to use ONLY my laptop to take the exam, the wired mouse and keyboard are needed?

When using your laptop with the integrated keyboard and touchpad/trackpoint external and wired keyboard and mouse are not needed.

I got that from the system requirements on page 3 of the [remote exam guide](https://www.redhat.com/rhdc/managed-files/tr-remote-exams-preparation-ebook-f27382-202103-en_2.pdf).

Not needed, but you can use them if you need.

Mouse should be okay. But when you use the external keyboard you are
supposed to close the laptop lid. --
