Just got an official answer, "Right now they’re set to be retired the beginning of June."
In short, yes. Classroom exams are being upgraded to RHEL 8.
My question is 'WHEN is the last date we can take the version 7 exam?"
I would also like to know this as well. I am currently prepping to take the RHCSA exam and need to know which I should be studying for. I started studying using RHEL 7, but if it is expiring within a month or so, I definitely need to change my study methods.
I do not know for certain... But we were told that the RHEL 7 RHCSA (EX200) and RHCE (EX300) certification exams are to be sunsetted this summer - June or July.
If you are close to sitting for your RHCSA, go ahead and do so. The cert. will be good for three years. It is not very different from the RHEL 8 EX200 one, so the skills will not be wasted.
The EX300 (RHEL 7 RHCE) wil go away completely. It is being replaced with the EX294 exame (RHEL 8 RHCE), which is Ansible-centric.
