March challenge: reply to this thread with the best piece of advice you've ever been given. This could be related to your career, life, etc.
Good luck!
Always seek to understand before having an opinion. You have two ears and one mouth. There’s a reason for that. I am very guilty of forming an opinion too fast without taking time to learn all of the information, and someone once told me this advice and it has proven very valuable in many different types of situations!
In the early days of my career, I was discouraged when I see a job posting for a position that requires less education with a better salary than the one with a good education, for example, warehouse supervisor vs software developer. But my colleague and a good friend draw a very nice graph on the whiteboard and show me the future where over time the salary gap will be filled and I will be working with something that I am more passionate about. He told me that it will be a stressful job if you are working only for money. He told me to work in a field that I am more passionate about and be happy to retire.
Since that day, I have been telling my kids to always pursue a career in a field where you are passionate and be happy to work forever.
I was trying to stay out of this and think of the best still yet to come
