There are quite a few of us in the Red Hat Learning Community currently preparing for the RHCE exam (EX 300) - what are some good resources, best practices or overall tips to help prepare?
Some overall tips below.
You need to know where to find information on a RHEL system. Man pages and docs are available, use them. For example, some system configurations can be copied from a template file.
Set up a homelab, put KVM on it, create a couple of VMs and go through all exam objectives. Practice is the key with RHCE, try all sorts of things, break the system, fix it, then break it again.
During the exam, do not rush, but read ALL questions first. Spend 10 minutes identifying packages that you are going to need, and then install everything in one go – this will provide you with a solid base to build on. Once you get the idea of what is required, start the configuration. Enable all required services. Also, configure security and access settings for any services that require them.
With regards to RHCE study resources, there are loads (both free and paid).
