Hi Team,
Why RH199 does not have bash script chapter which is there in RH134. Bash script is very important chapter from exam point of view which gives a good idea on basic bash scripts and for loops if else statement but no such chapter in RH199 . How a guy who enroll for RH199 get this idea if he would sit in exam after completion of RH199. From exam point of view RH199 does not contain full chapters.
As per redhat.com exam objectives script is part of rhcsa exam objective.
RHCSA exam candidates should be able to accomplish the tasks below without assistance. These have been grouped into several categories.
Understand and use essential tools
Create simple shell scripts
Hello @garvchaudhary !
Let me connect to the respective curriculum development team to understand the reasoning behind this. I do agree that the objective must be there in the RH199 course though short and crisp.
@garvchaudhary I got an official response from the team and in summary the reasoning was that this RH199 course is a Rapid track course and covers most but not all topics from the RH124/134 course. Some content was needed to be dropped as we are covering two weeks of content in a single week. But they have acknowkedged the feedback and will consider this during the future release of the course.
Thank you for your feedback!
Thanks Chetan for your quick response. Chetan I totally agree and I know RH199 is fastrack course .But when you design a course which is purely for redhat linux administrators who is going to involve in administration of Linux after completion of this course and as per my knowledge and experience scripting is the main concept which they will be going to use in administration as automation is very much needed and I really shocked that redhat skipped this main chapter for a course which is a prerequisite for Ex200.
For me its not difficult as Iam experienced and Old redhat linux guy who play with redhat linux every day in reading and linux but for guys who do have basic handson experience on linux and enroll for this RH199 course just to understand RHEL-9 concepts and also give examination its very difficult .
I came across multiple queries regarding this same concern from my friends and colleagues that why redhat did not include this scripting course in RH199. Because when you enroll for this course its no where mentioned that this or may other few chapters are skipped from RH199. Other chapters are not that much of concern but script is heart of automation or I would say begining of automation and how redhat skipped this I totally don't understand.
I can't say much as redhat is already a stable and big name but why didnot curriculum and course designing team did not notice this is really a big question . Candidate like me or other or any freshers who trust on redhat courses and believe that whatever redhat brings is updated and includes everything and after course completion and after paying huge amount of course they got to know " oh this course didn't have this chapter " really painful and again to understand that concept student needs to contact somebody to make him understand .Although everything is easy but i believe not what should we expect from redhat.
Lot to say but even Iam shocked with this although Iam old Linux guy and I have delivered various courses of Linux in old days but today I have felt this as a student and still in big question WHY ?
Thanks Chetan
@garvchaudhary I agree to all that you stated.
RH199 course never had any scripting content since RHEL 8 - but I have forwarded your feedback to the team and they have stated that they will positively look at it in future release of this course as adding a content in the existing course is not possible as of now.
Thank you for your time and feedback! Your feedback helps us make our courses better.
