New Course Versions: RH124, RH134, DO180 in the Learning Platform

Red Hat Academy is proud to announce the latest versions of our core training courses (RH124 v.10, RH134 v.10, DO180 v4.18) are now available in the Red Hat Academy Learning Platform.

Red Hat OpenShift Administration I: Operating a Production Cluster (DO180-4.18)

Our newly updated course Red Hat OpenShift Administration I: Operating a Production Cluster (DO180) prepares OpenShift cluster administrators to manage Kubernetes workloads and to collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, system administrators, and SREs to ensure the availability of application workloads. This course focuses on managing typical end-user applications that are often accessible from a web or mobile UI and that represent most cloud-native and containerized workloads. Managing applications also includes deploying and updating their dependencies, such as databases, messaging, and authentication systems.

No major content changes. This release focused on updating the existing course content for OpenShift 4.18. It also includes bug fixes and other improvements, such as updated lab scripts, and it removes deprecated features and APIs. The course design and core content has not changed from the previous 4.14 version of the course.

Red Hat System Administration I (RH124-10)

Start building core Linux system administration skills with our updated Red Hat System Administration I (RH124) class. Now available on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10, this course teaches you how to perform essential Linux administration tasks on a single server.

What is getting updated or changes:

  • All narratives, exercises, and labs are updated to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 syntax.
  • Added content on command-line assistant powered by RHEL Lightspeed.
  • Added content on managing software provided by Flatpak.
  • ch05s05/6: Changing the shell environment (PS1 variables and so on, not a major use case); moved in part to RH134.
  • ch10 (OpenSSH) topics scaled back
  • Remove or scale back in-depth SSH coverage repeated from ch02
  • Remove discussion of SSH service configuration (defaults are fine)
  • ch11: remove discussion of using SGID+umask 0002 to share files since that doesn't work easily since RHEL 9, making this much less relevant
  • ch12s03: remove RPM Modularity discussion from this section
  • ch14: Analyze servers and get support (often skipped by devs, should be spun off as a separate lesson and allocated to RH362 Troubleshooting and the future Insights course

This new release helps students to understand the latest features and capabilities of RHEL. Students learn essential skills in system installation, networking, physical storage management, and basic security administration. This release includes improvements to lab exercises, bug fixes, and updated content, all driven by feedback from students and instructors.

Red Hat System Administration II (RH134-10)

Red Hat System Administration II (RH134) is fully updated to provide a deep look at foundational system administration tasks in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. Building on essential skills developed in Red Hat System Administration I (RH124), this new release helps students to understand the latest features and capabilities of RHEL.

What is getting updated or changes:

  • RHEL version updated to 10.
  • Added content on Image-based RHEL installations: installing and managing them.
  • Added content on grub2-install and grubby for bootloader management.
  • Removed VDO topics from LVM content.
  • Removed Stratis layered storage management.

The coverage of LVM storage management is rewritten to focus on its core functionality, and the container management content is updated and revised. This release also includes additional updates, bug fixes, and improvements based on feedback from students and instructors.
