After all the problems my students and I had with a couple of RHEL 7 labs (which, strangely, no longer exist in RHEL 8 *ahem* Kerberized NFS *ahem*), I was suspicious when I saw this in the RHEL 8, RH134, Chapter 8, Section 5 lab - Stratis and VDO:
UPDATE: Mea culpa! I had a typo in fstab. The name of the service is stratisd (with a d). Once I fixed that, the stratis portion of the lab worked fine.
UPDATE, Pt. 2: Mea culpa again! I had a second typo in fstab. It is x-systemd.requires (again, with a d).
Yeah... I guess I have a problem with forgetting the letter d...
I do apologize to one and all that may have worried about this.
I wanted to confirm that I had no issues on my end rebooting serverb with the following entries in fstab:
For the options in the fstab for both stratis and vdo entries, after the default option I believe a d is missing e.g. x-systemd.requires=stratisd.service.
On page 245 of the student guide, steps 7 and step 11 mentions in the last sentence "Don't forget to use the x-systemd.requires=... mount option in /etc/fstab."
Hope that helps!

Yes, I forgot the letter d more than once and in more than one place. I just finished rewriting the lab to my liking -- and it works fine (as did the original).
