Connecting to default repositories

I failed the RHCSA exam today, I could not use yum or dnf because I could not get connect to the default repositories.  I have been using RHEL for about 7 years and have never run into this problem in real life. I someone could tell me:

How to connect to default repositories,  OR at the very least point me to the text on the subject. As I said in real life I just go to subscription-manager and login and then the repositories are active.  On the exam the repositories were there they just were not active.  There was no login credential provided to login to subscription-manager.  when I did a dnf repolist the repositories were there?  How do you activate them without logging into subscription-manager.  I really feel this is why I failed the test I could not download autofs or vdo. The container part I have to do some more reasearch.

Sorry to hear your failed attempts (I did fail that one on first attempt too, long story made short, the instructions were wrong and I took the incorrect decision to handle that).

What you ask is part of the exam, if I remember correctly. Therefore as part of the Non Disclosure Agreement we all took, I can not help you accurately.

Saying that, I suggest you read carefully the exams instructions again, there was something about that (some questions are connected). You must be able to "sort out the repo" first, then the packages required to install on later questions will be available.

You will have to create a repo file in /etc/yum.repos.d/

In addition to the instructions above, unfortunately you need a bit of luck here as well (although you have to pay for this). During my exam the BaseOS url provided in the exam instructions was corrupted. So although I managed to set it up and activate it, I could not install anything from that. The Appstream worked so managed to do that part. Politely requested exame support to check the URL but they refused saying it is confidential information.
