Did you check for generic stuff - disabled secure boot, cksum of usb (and iso where dd was done) is correct.. ?

It's expected that you are doing EFI boot.

start_image0 (or start.image0) doesn't ring a bell to me, it doesn't seem to be anything grub related though.

Hi @Hayk
Recreate the USB stick, and make sure the data is fully written to the USB disk. If you use the dd command, add && sync to the line. It flashes the cache fully to the drive. Make sure to boot in UEFI mode, preferably with Secure Boot disabled in BIOS. If you use Windows, a good app is Rufus. Also, mind the BitLocker. It may shout if you change the booting options for the recovery key. But no problem, when you set everything back afterwards, you will boot as before, no problem.

Just to be sure: you did verify secure boot is disabled and that USB key has the same checksum on iso and key, correct?

The start_image0 (or start.image0) is a bit confusing - it is not comming from grub. Maybe the FW on your notebook?

20251207_212744.jpgThe latest ISO does not allow an external monitor to be connected to the laptop computer to be used. I have been using my old AIO with damaged screen and an external monitor for all exams. Earlier ISO gave an option to chose the display and also restrict the display to single device. It was another matter that the exam procter would ask for covering of the other monitor which I always did for compliance. For RHLS learnings and Labs always prefer a bigger monitor as recommended by redhat. However this new ISO's fixation to forcefully stick to laptop monitor which can be a bit too small to work for 4 hours exam is not very convenient. Please reconsider the earlier ISO option to use the external monitor. Hope a new ISO with the earlier options could be released.

The document does mention that an external monitor can be attached to a laptop however the new ISO does not allow and just gives a warning message that only one display is allowed. Attached image the ISO is able to detect HDMI for sound but nothing for Display/Monitor. There is no option to configure it. I don't know if it is for me or for everyone.

Thanks in Advance..

Hi @Ravi ,

When you boot from the USB, the display resolution settings will appear. You can adjust the resolution and proceed with the setup. External monitor is allowed with the latest version ISO. Try configuring the settings, then close the laptop lid partially to switch to the external monitor. For best results, set the resolution to 1920x1080

You can even reach out to Support Team at

and use the chat widget at the bottom right corner of the screen to start a live chat with support.

Thank you for responding. Current monitor supports resolution 1920x1080 and it goes to this only. I will try it again today and see if it changes anything else reach support as recommended.
