RH199 Lab is not correct for LVM

RH199 Lab for Lvm is not correct .

Chapter 10

Lab Name:  Manage Storage Stack

In this Lab why we are start with 514MiB and not 513MiB . Why we are keeping 1MB free in between /dev/vdb1 and /dev/vdb2. Totally confusing for freshers as no logic is behind this . In Swap partition Lab book says last value is 2000M so 2000M+512 is what we need and in this Lab of LVM lab says last value is 513MiB so start from 514MiB but why?

This is a big mistake as freshers may get confuse while doing lab and main thing is why

@garvchaudhary Thanks for pointing it out! Though, I will not call it confusing or incorrect as it does no harm as far as this learning lab exercise / environment is considered. At the same time, If you do not want to leave unused space in the device, make sure that each partition starts where the previous one ends, which means if I want I can leave 1 MiB of unused space inbetween and it wont be called incorrect ( yet it will be ineifficient ). You can do it your way and still the grading script will mark you PASS.

I agree about the deviation in RH134 ch07 and RH199 Ch10 and hence will report it to the course developers.

Thanks Chetan,

This is confusing if we think from a fresher who is doing RH199. Definitely he will be confuse why here we are leaving 1MB because there is no note nothing so he always think that whenever we do MiB practicals we should start from next value not last value.

Iam already a old redhat certified guy so for me catching these things are not difficult. But this course is for freshers who starts his journey in Linux .So as a opinion from my side lab should be more clear and not confusing like this.

I have received so many questions from other freshers who are doing this courses and I was giving same anwer as you gave to me . But they said what redhat do this in this lab any specific concept behind this .

So I would say this is not good for course which is mainly for freshers redhat should consider this on priority and update this . This is my feedback rest is redhat's call.

Thanks
