Hi @yusuf-yazici ,

I think the answer is no, based on the rules:

Webcam: One external webcam with at least a 1m cable

Source: https://learn.redhat.com/t5/Certification-Resources/Getting-Ready-for-your-Red-Hat-Remote-Exam/ba-p/...

I also do not see where one would configure that in that secure Remote Exams live environment...

Having said that maybe it's worth to clarify or modify the Getting Ready document, explicitally commenting on the use of IP Webcams?

@shefeeqyr Could you kindly consolidate my answer?

Cheers,

IP Webcams and all other arrangements that would leverage a cellphone into a Webcam are a No currently.  One of the key policies of a remote exam as well as a testing center exam is that the cellphone of the candidate must not be in the vicinity, or switched off.
If you walk into a Testing Center, the local point of contact would help with safekeeping of your phone.

Similarly, using an earplug or headphone is not allowed either (except under special medical circumstances that are reviewed and approved in advance).
This is to ensure that we minimize the presence of any device or medium that has the potential to render help or reference materials.

Particularly with a cellphone acting as a Webcam, there are considerations such as what would you do if you get a call/message in between, security questions of how/whether we can lockout a phone completely and make it act as a pure camera and so on.  Things that might see a solution in the future, but are not part of what could be brought out to the market in a short time.
To sum it up, IP cams, cellphone cams or a second laptop's integrated webcam are all not allowed for remote exams.

Best Regards,

Hi @yusuf-yazici

What generation (release year) of MacBook Pro are you using?

This is new at least to me. The remote exam image will never ask for any update. Nevertheless, if your Macbook Pro is from 2018 and onwards, it's T2 security chip might dislike booting from an external media. You can read more about it at https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT208198.

If you are unable to boot from the USB drive on your MacBook pro, you can try the same drive on another laptop, if available, to isolate any Macbook Pro specific issues.

MacBook Pros with T2 chips seem to have compatibility issues with most of the Linux distributions. Hence this is impacting our remote exam image that is derived out of Fedora Workstation 32. While we had some luck with 2018 models, keyboard and touchpad did not work for a couple of 2019 Pro users.

Shefeeq

Hello

I just found out about this today after I missed my exam. This link https://learn.redhat.com/t5/Certification-Resources/Getting-Ready-for-your-Red-Hat-Remote-Exam/ba-p/...

suppose to be  available on the time whenyou schedule or register for your remote exam.

I have no idea this is needed before the exam all i did is register and schedule . I was thinking it would be some thing through the browser like LPIC  cert not that you have to do all that to get to remote exam.

Why wouldnt they have some thing like this or email when schedule a remote exam sent about the exam preperation. ??  or through a reminder  or any thing.

Strange.

I've received an e-mail 3 or 4 days before exam with the reminder of exam and detailed description how to test RemoteExam environment.

Please check your spam folders - maybe e-mail was filtered?
