Hya,

Want to prepare for my exam.

Why is a wireless keyboard and mouse not allowed ?

I use a microsoft sculpt ergnomic keyboard, only one I have.

This is wireless, same goes for the aptico trackball.

Further more the image does not seem to detect my logitech c270, while this is quite a normal webcam.

Another question can I use a headset for communication, or is a headset not allowed at all ?

(And if it's not allowed how am I to hear the proctor ask anything?)

thank you in advance.

Hi there,

A wired keyboard/mouse is a strict requirement for RH remote exams.
I suppose its to make the proctors job easier and to ensure additional devices are not connected during your exam. Unfortunately, there is no way around it for now.

Further more the image does not seem to detect my logitech c270, while this is quite a normal webcam.

I have also used the Logitech C270 basic 720p camera for my first exam and it was detected. I do not know if there are different versions of this model but you can try to test it by live booting Fedora 33 and see if its detected (The remote exam image is based on Fedora 33).

A warning about this camera model, During my exam, the proctors could not read the ID for verification and it was blurry and we had to spend a while to get that sorted. I eventually moved to a better webcamera for future exams.
Here is a page where other testers have shared their hardware details - https://learn.redhat.com/t5/General/RedHat-Remote-Exam-supported-hardware-cameras-mice-keyboards/m-p...

Headsets are not needed for communication. The proctor will communicate with you via a chat applet within the exam environment.

Hope that helps and Good luck with your exam!

Hello,

I have an upcoming remote exam and was running the compatibility check.   I noticed that my external webcam was recording the mirror image of myself in front of my monitor.  I experimented with showing my ID document to the webcam and it displayed the reverse image.  In other words the printing looked backwards, like in a mirror.   will this be a problem?  there doesn't seem to be any controls in the compatibility setup that let you adjust anything about the camera and there are no buttons or controls on the webcam that allow you to do anything.

It hasn't been an issue with me, personally. As long as the words on your license and your background are clear, you should be fine.

Hi,

As replied here:

reply webcam horizontally flipped is normal

It's normal. The proctor will see the image as it should, no worries here :)

Good luck for your exam,

Wired connection is recommended if possible to avoid any situations.
But to be honest, if you have a good and stable wifi connection then you
can do it over WiFi. (I have done my 4th Remote Exam today morning and
never experienced any issue)

Hi,

The answer is in the pdf document to get your ready for the exam:

Remote-exams-preparation-ebook

Can I use a wireless internet connection? Wifi is not advised. Wherever possible, use a wired internet connection for stability and compatibility. Wifi speeds can vary based on a variety of factors that may have an impact on your exam. The remote exam live USB may not detect all wireless network adapters. If the wifi adapter of your computer is not detected by the remote exam live USB image, then wired internet will be the only option.

(as @Gineesh said, if it works fast enough, if it's stable, etc... then it should be ok, only you will take the risk and responsability :) ).

Cheers,
