Thank you very much for your answer

I tested with the old remote exam ISO and I have been able to boot successfully

However I wonder if I can use this image to attempt the exam, wouldn't this be prone to problems?

I will see with my company if they can lend me a compatible computer such as T480 or HP Elitebook to use the latest available image -but not sure they will aha.

Thank you again for your help!

For now, please try to use the older image located here - https://static.redhat.com/downloads/training-certification/rhrexboot-2020-08.iso, I was able to live boot into this version of the remote exam image.

@vishals do you know what the MD5/SHA256 checksums are for the older 2020-08 .iso file? I'd like to make sure I've got a good download. Thanks!

Hi @JohnCall ,

The sha256 checksum of the 08-2020 iso file is

Hi All,

My laptop hardware model is MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports, 8GB RAM).  I have tried to check remote exam environment using RHRE-20210309 & RHRE-20200630 but in both case I have found below issue -

  • Not able to connect to wifi network though correct password is given and laptop is close to wifi router
  • In the input device section, see two options - Microphone - Built-in Audio & Internal Microphone - Built-in Audio. In both cases the microphone is not sensing anything from the environment and the microphone slider is in disable status.
  • Not able to hear anything using an internal microphone / external microphone.

I can see pictures from both internal and external web cameras.

Now questions are -

  • Is there any exam environment/ISO that can be checked in the said laptop hardware so that wifi connection can work?
  • Is microphone mandatory for the exam?
  • How to resolve wifi connection issue?

Thanks & BR//

Arif

Hi Arif!

It is recommended that you used a wired connection during the exam. As for the microphone, it is needed in order for the proctor to monitor the environment while you take the test.

I just attempted an RHCSA remote exam but had to stop becuase of an "Internal Media Error".

The most frustrating part was that the pre-exam funtionality tests all passed!

also, I was on a wired connection, both my internal network and ISP speeds are 1Gb/s

1. How do i reschedule my exam?

2. Is there any way to access a test exam environment to be sure i dont have the same problem again?

Hello. I had a similar issue with the lab environment which prevented me from taking the exam. I reached out to certification-team@redhat.com to explain and ask if the exam can be retaken.

I hope to receive a favorable response given it was a very unfortunate and frustrating situation.

What day and time did you attempt the exam? Did you hear back from the cert team yet?

My environment was so slow, i was playing the "catch up game" with the mouse (i'd move it, and have to wait a second to see where it ended up). I tried to push through, but i hadnt made much progress even after an hour. it was then i worked with the proctor to try and fix it. When we couldnt get it fixed, the proctor suggested i reschedule

Hi @Loopholelou ,

Based on your description I did experience the same issue yesterday during an exam with EX403. It was on my rather old laptop, Dell E6430, and using the latest iso. I suspect something is going wrong with the graphic card and that might be using some sort of default display drivers that makes it "choppy".

I also feedback the above experience to the team, I suggested that if my theory is correct, then additional checks should be made to detect what sort of display drivers are used.

During the exam, the proctor allowed me to restart the computer entirely, so we agreed I will change laptops, after a few failed trials and errors (like reducing resolution). I used a more recent laptop and it worked properly.

I understand it's rather stressful and inconvenient, I hope the feedback we provide will improve that situation.

PS: I think using the older iso image might be a temporary workaround, I am not sure where it is available officially...It's the one with this sha256sum:

sha256sum rhrexboot.iso
eda73a25d7d9b5eb51273c1773ee08297d17fb4430200125f3432d2f31ab594f rhrexboot.iso

(I had an old copy in my download folder :))

Edit: support gave a link to the older iso in another thread (pay attention to the recommendations about using an older iso and testing):
