Many people are reporting issues with the RHREXBOOT.ISO.

Some are reporting success in trying an older version of the ISO, like here -> https://learn.redhat.com/t5/General/Cannot-Boot-Remote-Exam-Live-ISO-USB-for-Remote-Exam-Boot/td-p/1...

Others simply run into the problem that their chosen hardware is not compatible with the OS and software on the ISO. You will then need to try another computer.

My ex200 exam is scheduled next week, so I set up my computer. I used "FedoraMediaWriter-win32-latest" write "rhrexboot.iso" to my usb, but it doesn't work. but if I write "rhrexboot-2020-08.iso" to my usb, it works. so could I still use "rhrexboot-2020-08.iso" for the exam?

Hello @sam1974

The old ISO "rhrexboot-2020-08.iso" will be discontinued soon, however, you could use it since your exam is scheduled for next week as we haven't heard any update so far.

NOTE : In this version of ISO , the USB stick must remain connected to the system

Since 90% of the people complaining about the new ISO, do we have any update from the Exam team to fix the issue with new ISO which can work on those machines with security locks as well?

personally, the new ISO never worked (tried 4 different PCs) for me and always used the old 2020 ISO for the last 7 exams.

Hi Gineesh. The fix is easy. Just disable your "security locks", as described in the manual. Any candidate can do it. as it comes to compatibility issues, the updated version of the ISO should be out soon.

Even disabling those security settings will not be a guarantee that the current ISO boots, @PetrCihlar . On my Lenovo from 2018, the current ISO's a dead fish.

Sure. You have to define what "security settings" you mean.
There are:
Enable/disable Secure Boot
Enable/disable External USB booting
Bitlocker
Legacy/UEFI Bios

You should at least understand those terms, you should know what your own settings is. If you do and set it properly, the computer starts booting. You should also define, what the term "boots" mean for you. Does it mean it boots all the way successfully or it just starts booting? It may hang during the booting process of course. I am not saying it will not. But it is a compatibility issue, not a setting issue.

Fair enough Petr.

For those people who do not have issues with any of the Secure Boot settings, the ISO does start the boot process of Linux. In many cases it comes very far and starts the exam environment.

In my personal case, it ends up hanging at the 100% mark, just like the people in this thread ->  Cannot Boot Remote Exam Live ISO USB for Remote Exam, Boot hanging at 100%

So, you could say that the ISO boots just fine. It's the exam environment itself that's just not starting correctly. It never lets you login and start the process of taking your exam.

Hi Tess,

You said the system is a 2018 Lenovo. What are the specs like? Do you have any add-on graphics card (before that, is that a desktop or a laptop?). Have you used any convertors/docking station/additional cards etc. that the LiveUSB is having trouble loading drivers for? If yes, you can try removing such elements to isolate the issue. When the boot process gets stuck infinitely at 100%, it indicates a compatibility issue between the computer+peripherals and the LiveUSB.

The exam environment enters the picture much later. You boot to the LiveUSB, configure the settings to connect to the internet, set the mic volume, touchpad sensitivity, accessibility settings if applicable etc. and then the login page to the proctoring application presents itself.
