RHV and FPGA

Does RHV has support for FPGA devices ? I tried searching on google but so far I found this relevant : https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3424181 . But still I want to know if any later versions of RHEL7.x and RHEL8.x has support for FPGA devices. If yes then how and if no then are we expecting it in later versions. Also if we can use GPU in the Virtual Machines that are running such applications.

Hi Mayank,

I was looking for the same thing and came across a reference in the 8.3 release notes Kernel section. It mentions a new technology preview for FPGA support.

The Open Programmable Acceleration Engine (OPAE) is currently available as technology preview. The OPAE framework is a software infrastructure layer that simplifies and streamlines integration to kernel Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) subsystem. OPAE is a set of packages required to manage FPGA devices using the OPAE framework.

See:  https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8-beta/html-single/8.3_releas...

That's a start

Thanks,

Greg S
