Even after doing everything right, it's showing error for each part. Is there any bug in RH124. I deleted all and redone everything. But no luck

Four files created as well

source path:   /Documents/project_plans/season2_project_plan.odf

Target Path:  /Documents/backups/season2_project_plan.odf.back

Before you execute the command that I will show, PLEASE be sure that the target filename DOES NOT exist!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before you execute the command that I will show, PLEASE be sure that the source filename DOES exist!!!!!!!!

Now, for the actual command that will create the hard link:

ln    -v    /Documents/project_plans/season2_project_plan.odf           /Documents/backups/season2_project_plan.odf.back

Note:  The command appears as though it is on two (2) lines, but this is ONLY one (1) line!!!!

Note:  The "-v" option is NOT required for the command!  It's just good practice to include it!!!!!!

I'm not sure exactly what your reply is communicating.  Did you execute the command that I provided?  If so, did you see the hard link created in the target directory?

Yes, I executed the exact command. It has shown the succesful result as well. But still in that lab result it's showing fail. Should I shut down the machine and start again?

It certainly won't hurt to shutdown the machine, and start again!  After doing so, if you still see this "fail" message, there is an issue somewhere else!!!   As you've already seen, the command is absolutely, 100% correct!!!!

@Hi-I_U I suggest you to recreate your lab and then redo this lab.

You are supposed to be doing the lab on serverb

(Your first screenshot shows that you are on servera, which is incorrect. As a result, the lab will not grade.)

Also, when you do that lab, you must be certain that you are are doing all of the work in the proper directories.

For example, ~/Documents may not exist when you begin the lab, so you'll have to create it. Be careful here. Many students create this directory in ~

documents

This is not the same as Documents.

When doing the labs, ALWAYS ENSURE, at all times:

  1. You are on the correct system.
  2. Logged in as the correct user.
  3. Working in the correct directory.
