Just a quickie for now:

We teach the RH124, RH134 and RH254. We also offer a separate 8-week Bash scripting course and a 16-week Capstone course.

I am the "main guy" for our Academy . . . well, I'm the only guy, really. Everything surrounding our Red Hat Academy is my responsibility.

I am a little concerned about the direction the RHCE is taking (the new RH294 class and EX294 exam), as it seems to be positioned to replace the RH254 that were currently teaching. See:

My fun fact: I collect vinyl records. I having a digitizing turntable where I record them and remaster them to remove pops, clicks, and other noise so I can have them on my home's music server, my phone, and my car. I love discovering long-lost music this way - there's an amazing amount of really great music out there that people just don't know about.

Hey Tracey!! Always nice hearing from you and you've definitely led an awesome program at Estrealla Mountain Community College over the years! 

In terms of your questions around the new RHCE direction, we are going to host a webinar in May on the specific changes and any impact that it will make on the RHA program. We'll also open the floor to questions, so please bring some if you're able to make the live event!  I'll be sending out the webinar date and information by this Wednesday, but let me know if you have any quesitons in the meantime!

I wanted to share some new for you. I know we had some of this as discussion at the North America Training Instructor/Partner Conference in terms of the direction that Red Hat decided to take with the RH294 being the RHCE track. 

As you know, Automation with Ansible is a key path to the future, however, I wanted to point out a recently released course. The RH358 course is basically the new version geared around system administration for RHEL8 whereas the RH254 course was focused on the RHEL7 administration with RHCE tasks.

The new RH358 course covers almost all topics that were taught in the RH254 courses, but also offers a section for each chapter/topic around performing those tasks using Ansible Automation. So the core content and back-end system administration concepts are covered in this newer course. What's more ... this also extends the functionality and shows how to perform the tasks in an automated fashion. In most cases, we are able to use existing Ansible modules, however, there are some instances where we fall back to the shell or command modules to perform the task using Ansible.

The target audience of this course is someone with RHCSA and RHCE skill levels as we really wanted to have the person with an Ansible background for the course to drive it through completion on all topics. However, there would most likely be nothing from stopping you after the RH134 course from delivering something like the RH358 course as an updated version of the RH254 instead of the RH294 RHCE course. 

Also, please be aware that the RH124/RH134/RH199 courses have been updated to RHEL8.2 which changes some of the content around slightly with respect to Cockpit. The big change is an additional chapter for the RH134 and RH199 courses around using containers and Podman. There is a delta course available RHCSA650e that covers that material.

Hi all,

I have been a full time instructor at Portland Community College since 2011.  I teach two Linux administraton classes.  The first class covers Linux installation and configuation, the second class covers Linux network administration.

We (really it is just me) are new to RHA, this is our first term teaching RH 124 and RH 134.  We plan to teach RH 254 in the future.

Fun fact (well maybe not so fun), I started working with Unix in the mid 1980's as an undergrad student and have used Unix/Linux provessionaly ever since.  Don't ask me any Windows questions, I am bearly a Windows User :-).

I am the IT Security Instructor for Westmec Northwest Campus in Surprise, AZ. I have adapted the Linux Administration portion of my course to use the RH124 amd RH134 material. So far this has gone over very well with the Highschool Juniors who have taken this part of my 2 year program.

I would be happy to discuss integrating this curriculum into an existing program.
