Macbook Pro 2017 / Remote Exam / Esc key

I need a hint, please...

I could boot the remote exam ISO on a Macbook 2017 with Touch Bar. Unfortunately the Touch Bar does not work and so the Esc key (which is integrated in the Toud Bar) does not work either. Any ideas how I can get a usable Esc key that I will probably need during the exam when I work with vi/vim? Is the only way to bypass this using a wired keyboard  - that I don't have? :-(

You can use Ctrl + [ instead of Esc.

I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch (2020) with an Intel Core i5 running macOS Ventura 13.5.1 (22G90).
I booted using the rhrexboot-2025-07.iso image.
I wasn’t able to configure either the Wi-Fi or the wired network.
I also couldn’t get the sound output or microphone to work.

What steps did you take to set up your MacBook?
