I have always been a Windows person since the UNI, understanding of open sources software like Linux has absolutely amazed me. I am sitting in a Red Hat course right now and so so upset that why I didn't start working with RED HAT before, Abosulety love the flexibility which comes with open source software and amazed by the wide spread usability of Linux. I think I am becoming a true fan of this open source idea and loveing the whole community of people who support this idea too.
Open source learning is great because you get folks who usually have two mindsets: they love what they do, and they want to share that love with others. There is very little 'gatekeeping' that comes with Linux and Open Source.
I fell in love with Open Software around 1997... I installed my first Linux back then. Since Internet links were not that common and fast those days (modems ruled ;)), the software was actually not that free in terms of cost: I had to shell out a few cents in order to buy a magazine with CD-ROMs attached. It had more CD-ROMs than pages if I recall correctly. ;)
Anyway, I was a university student and I was amazed by the power and stability of the free system as opposed to the commercially available Home OSes back then. All the serious computations and labs were performed on Unix and Linux systems already back then.
Why I love open software now? If it wasn't for Open Software, we probably would never see the ascent of DevOps.
To me, open source software represents many things. Freedom and individual liberty, legality, creativity (influence on music/art with things like GPL/creative commons/copyleft works), sustainability, practicality, right to repair, right to privacy, DIY/raspberryPi, just to name a few. The beauty is that we all get to help co-define it in a way. I really do believe it changes the world and I am proud to be a tiny part of it. Thank you.
Open Source is where innovation really happens!
I ❤️ Open Source because it is based upon sharing and cooperation.
The community creates and owns the standards, anyone is free to contribute.
Open source benefits the community but it also benefits each of us and our companies.

I love Open Source because, well, it's open, collaborative, always-on, transparent, and the best way I know to share and learn!
I like Open Source because it creates communities, allows them to grow and serves as a catalyst of innovation through a mutual objective.
