There are a couple of issues with the RH124 (v9) Chapter 13 Section 1 text.
First there is this:
These four bullet points are all incorrect in saying, "resulting in a ... suffix." tar does not result in any suffix (file extension)
tar -czf mytarball
will result in a file named mytarball, not mytarball.tar.gz

This next bit shows the wrong character:
Linux uses /, not \ -- and it is seen here (and incidentally, \ is a backslash)...
